Colin MunroeProducer and singer/songwriter Colin Munroe is the first feature artist signed to Marked Music Inc. His debut album, Don’t Think Less of Me, will be released in Q2 2008 via a partnership with Dallas Austin's Rowdy Records. In the last two years, Colin Munroe has established himself as a go-to producer in Canada’s urban music community. In addition to writing and producing 10 songs from the Juno-nominated album What It Is by Ray Robinson, his production is featured on Brassmunk’s latest LP (including How ’Bout feat. Moka Only) and upcoming releases by Divine Brown, Saukrates and Drake among others. Recently he completed production for an upcoming release on multiplatinum artist Busta Rhyme’s imprint with Universal/Motown and has logged studio time with acclaimed NYC MCs Sean Price and Starang for an upcoming Duck Down Records project. In stark contrast to his urban background, Don’t Think Less of Me reveals Colin’s love affair with Joe Jackson, The Beatles and Tin Pan Alley classics. The resulting songs are an inspired, convincing mix of driving rock rhythms, hooky melodies and soulful lyrics that were written, performed and produced exclusively by Colin Munroe in Toronto’s acclaimed Metalworks Studios over a 12 month period and mixed by Grammy winner Mark Needham (The Killers, My Chemical Romance). Jodi KingIn June 2007, Winnipeg-born singer/songwriter Jodi King celebrated the official release of her hotly anticipated EP, The Acoustic EP, with two sold out shows at Winnipeg’s Park Theatre. The stripped back acoustic productions range from upbeat and driving to melancholic and introspective, and spotlight Jodi’s magnetic voice, resulting in pop music that is that is reminiscent of KT Tunstall and Corinne Bailey Rae, but with an emphasis on Jodi’s natural ability to play piano. In addition to performing Rhodes on the project, Jodi King co-wrote five of the disc’s six songs with Aware/Columbia recording artist Kyle Riabko and Juno-nominated producer Colin Munroe. The EP’s closing song, I Live For You, was written by Chris Burke-Gaffney. Toronto producer/engineer Adam King (Ohbijou, Run With The Kittens and Jill Barber) recorded and mixed the EP over a week-long period in April with Noah Mintz (Sarah Slean, Feist) handling mastering duties. The disc offers fans a glimpse into Jodi’s music as she prepares to commence recording of a full length LP, tentatively scheduled for an early 2008 release.
